Electricians are competent in all stages of electrical construction
installing in a variety of building designs (residential, commercial,
industrial, fundamental electronics) and upkeep of equipment following
installation. All their time is documented within the jurisdiction of
the local government to ensure that their time to be credited. A
Journeyman is generally permitted to execute all kinds of electrical
work with the exception of the design of electrical systems, while in
some states a Journeyman may design systems within just certain limits.
By contrast, a non commercial electrician is just permitted to work with
residential projects with limitations (for example below 4 stories),
and apprenticeship is usually four to five years. In certain states like
Michigan, to go on to become a Master Electrician and then an
electrical contractor, a journeyman needs to work an additional two
years past his passing of the intensive exam given then apply to take
the Master’s examination which is another very rigorous examination.
Then they can apply for an electrical contractors license in accordance
with the guidelines of that government.
